Membership Meetings, March 2007:
The General Membership Meeting took place Saturday, March 10 at Chicago Indoor Racing. One hundred two people came out, members and friends, to participate in a friendly team endurance challenge.
After a nine-minute video introduction to indoor racing, the group was broken down into 20 teams with approximately five people per team. The drivers changed into racing suits, complete with full-face helmets and neck protectors. After a 20-minute warm-up, where each driver had approximately five laps to get used to the kart and the track, they began the endurance race. The race lasted 1¼ hour.
A printout of the scores, complete with each lap time, was distributed to each driver.
Afterwards we met at the Ram Restaurant and Brewery for a burger, cool brew and further camaraderie.
A special “Thank You” to you who came early and helped with registration, the raffle and the release forms. Two car-related items were raffled off that were donated by Griot’s Garage.
A very special “Thank You” to the gentleman who graciously presented me with a very nice gift. That was so thoughtful of you!
Also, club member Phil Gordon, and Ed Pasek of Fall Line Motorsports introduced us to Outdoor Karting. Karting events are being planned at Autobahn Country Club. Ed purchased 10 outdoor karts for the (approximately) ½ mile track. These Karts are being specially built for the Autobahn track. They are expected to be ready this summer.
