The club hosts at least three driving schools a year. These are not competitive
events but an opportunity to learn performance driving on the track. These are off
road events where safety is the primary concern. Sessions are offered for the novice
to the most experienced drivers. With this grouping you will be driving on the track
with others of the same general skill level. At a driving school everyone is a student
and will ride with an instructor. The instructor will help you learn the best path
or line to take on the track for your skill level and will be a second set of eyes
and ears in the car for you. The instructor will help you refine your skills and
build your confidence.
At a driving school it is not about how fast you go but how well you drive. The
key to performance driving is smoothness. The smoother you handle the car on the
track the more control and speed you have. This takes time and patience to develop
but is well worth the investment.
At a driving school you will, conditions and circumstances permitting, get at least
three sessions on the track a day. When you are not driving you will attend classes
that will review the finer points of vehicle dynamics. You will also get time for
lunch and plenty of time socialize with other members.
A driving school is quite an adrenaline rush and more fun that humans should be
allowed behind the wheel. To get a sense of what a drivers school is like visit
the archives section and click on the Driving School item. You will find stories
and lots of pictures of the fun club members have at these events.
